Who needs movie trailers?

Art, Design, Diversions, Entertainment, Photography, Websites by Richard

Movie posters usually get pushed to the side in favor of watching movie trailers, but they deserve some love too. Featuring over 12,000 movie posters and counting, the Internet Movie Poster Awards website is a website that brings you high res scans of movie posters and news concerning the movies themselves. For someone like me who loves good movie poster design/art, this site is amazing. You’re able to browse movie posters by director, designer/artist, actors/actresses and year (going back as far as 1973). Of course, they link to quite a few movie poster stores, so if you see a poster that you like, you can buy it.

What I like best about the site are the little touches. For instance, the top 10 movies at the box office are listed in the sidebar of the front page, not by their names, but by their posters. I think it’s a great, unique way to display the info at a glance. Yesterday the 2005 IMP Awards were decided, so check out the top posters of the past year in such categories as creepiest poster, best funny tag line, worst poster and more.
