Done The Impossible.

by Richard

I’m a big Firefly/Serenity fan (the first FA post ever was about Serenity!) and so when I heard about this DVD, I was highly interested in checking it out. Done the Impossible is a well-produced, very heartfelt DVD that chronicles the story of Firefly: the sci-fi show that was mistreated by Fox from the very beginning (they didn’t even air the pilot until after the show was canceled), Serenity: the movie that eventually came along to finish the story, and the very dedicated group of Firefly fans, who call themselves the Browncoats.

Most of the Firefly/Serenity actors and the series creator, Joss Whedon all make appearances on the DVD as well, which I thought was extremely cool. You can really tell that it was a labor of love and that they really believed in the show and were devastated when it was canceled. Done The Impossible also tells the story of the fans who worked tirelessly to make sure that everyone they knew watched Firefly, to get people to go and see Serenity when it came out, and who went above and beyond to promote the TV show they loved. This DVD is a definite reflection of that… It even features original music that fans wrote, performed and recorded especially for it.

There are 6 hours worth of bonus material on the DVD-ROM portion of the disc as well, and a portion of the proceeds are going to Joss Whedon’s favorite charity, Equality Now. My girlfriend and I watched it last night, and she turned to me and said, “I want to see Serenity again now!” Guess what we’re doing tonight? :) If you haven’t seen Firefly yet, do it. Rent it, buy it, put it in your Netflix queue… whatever.. Then you’ll want to watch Serenity. Then, see how it all came together by watching Done The Impossible. You can even download a torrent of it for free, but if you’re a Firefly fan, you’ll want the DVD in your collection (with all of the special features!)
