GelaSkin

There are more iPod cases, skins, bags, and tubes, wraps, and socks on the market that you can shake a stick at – each one uglier than the next. GelaSkins take a new stab at the iPod protection market with a novel idea: utilizing people that might know a thing or two about aesthetics, actual artists.

GelaSkins are thin adhesive vinyl coatings that are easily applied to your iPod 4G, Shuffle, Nano, or Video. The adhesive is residue-free, meaning the skins are easy to remove and will not hurt your pod. This is a good thing, because if you order the Snakes on a Plane skin now, you can easily replace it with the Snakes on a Plane 2 skin next year. Every skin also comes with a screen protector.

I found my Skin very easy to apply, even with my clumsy fingers. Now my previously scratch-ridden iPod is big pimpin’ in a brand new skin. I’m looking at this as a cheap way to get excited about the coolness of your iPod all over again. Skins run $14.95 + 3.95 S&H.

[...] My only complaint is the protective plastic over the scroll wheel. I wasn’t in love with the slight texture on the plastic and it made scrolling a bit less responsive. I actually busted out an exacto knife and removed it. Don’t worry though, my scroll wheel is protected with my GelaSkin. That reminds me – I also have a GelaSkin on my iPod which doesn’t affect its ability to slip down into the Vaja case one bit. GelaSkins, which we reviewed here, has a whole bunch of new artists and new designs that blow me away with awesomeness. [...]
