Pilot Speed.
by RichardPilot Speed absolutely rocks. If you like Coldplay, Keane, Howie Day or similar music, you’ve got to give these guys a listen. Formerly known as Pilate, these guys deserve all the accolades they have and will be receiving. The lyrics are solid, the songs themselves create a wall of sound that dances around you, and you can’t help but be amazed at the amount of emotion that comes through. I totally got stuck in a traffic jam for miles tonight and didn’t realize it… I was too busy listening to this disc. Pilot Speed hails from Canada and already has a Juno Award nomination, a Top-Twenty Canadian album, one Top-Ten Canadian radio single, and a Much Music video award under their belts from their previous albums. In less than a month, they’re releasing a new CD that is worthy of being in anyone’s rotation.
“Into The West” comes out on November 28th. Put it on your list. Oh, and as always, you can check out a song from the new album below. There’s even a podcast available if you’d like to learn more about the band.

Today, FreshArrival is one year old. In honor of this momentous occasion, we’ve redesigned the site and added a couple of things here and there. The new front page is an updated version of the design we’ve grown to love, and now features a search bar so that you can easily find that older post that you’re trying to show to your mom. We’ve also added one click buttons to the bottom of the front page so that you can easily submit the day’s post to Digg or save it in del.icio.us if you’re so inclined. On the subscribe page, you can find a link to subscribe to our comments feed (so you can see the latest comments people have made). I’ve even updated the logo.
There’s a new writers page. Now you can see who we are and find out a little bit more about the writers behind the site. I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time.
There are a ton of links that never make it to the front page of FreshArrival, but are still really cool, and now we’ve got a place for those… Introducing the FreshArrival MiniBlog. We probably won’t update it as much as the front page, but you can subscribe to the feed on the bottom of the page and keep up with the links that make it there, or just check the MiniBlog from time to time. Hopefully it will be useful to you.
Thanks for reading FreshArrival. I can’t believe it’s been a year already.

Nice job. A subtle improvement without losing the charm. The search is handy and I will use it.

so what? you mention a 1 year anniversary / birthday thing and you didn’t provide a link back to the first post? I’m curious to know what was thought of as fresh last year~

Um, that’s why there’s an archive, Matt. You’re lazy. :)

You should better anticipate the needs, wants, and laziness of your readers

But you still haven’t fixed the poorly contrasting individual page for each item. Viewing darkish gray text on an even darker gray background just doesn’t work for reading. Pleeeeeeease fix this.

Larry-
All right, I’ll fix it as soon as I can. I remember trying to at one point and totally screwing the stylesheet up, then just reverted to the older version, then forgot about it altogether. Sorry about that.

I don’t mind what Matt or Larry are talking about, but I do miss the “previous” button =(

Ahhh.. I KNEW I forgot something! I’ll bring it back for sure.

Richard, all you gotta do is change around some color values… if you need help, just e-mail me and I’ll get ya situated.

Larry-
It’s a little more complex than that, because of the way the stylesheet was written… when i changed the color of the text to white, i noticed that for instance your comment above, which is in a white box would end up being invisible…. i didn’t have time to track down those other values and so I just reverted to the original stylesheet… I’ll do it properly this time.

Thanks Richard! It looks good though, I like the new style. Had no problems with the old one, but I like this one too. Have you guys done an article on Meebo yet? It’s a cool little web based IM client. You can use AIM, GTalk, YIM, MSN, Jabber and ICQ.
It’s really niffty for people who don’t want to download one or all of these programs to talk through IM, or if you can’t download things at work or school =P
