ecopod.

The ecopod, designed by BMW DesignWorks aims to make recycling not so much of a chore and looks great doing so. It’s a compactor for plastics and aluminum cans that lets you drop your recyclable into a hole on top, push down on a lever, and voila, it’s highly compressed and stored in a bin for later recycling. I like it because it is well designed and keeps all of your recyclables in one place until you decide to do something with them. No more can crushing then putting them in some ugly bag that just sits around taking up space until it’s full.

The ecopod also has an upper compartment with additional room for glass bottles, newspapers and other recyclable materials. It goes on sale later on this year, and will also be featured in Williams-Sonoma’s January 2007 catalog.
