corner step can.

Design, Home and Life, Kitchen, Useful Things by Richard

I’ve had the new corner step can from simplehuman in my kitchen for awhile now, and I love, love, love it (and so does my girlfriend). It’s a very solid, 22lb (it is stainless steel :)) can with a stainless steel, rubberized step for can opening. When you get off of the step, it closes slowly, smooothly and silently (but fully). It’s made especially to fit in a corner, which works out perfectly in my small kitchen. The corner step can is the most solid trash can I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, and I don’t think I could ever knock it over accidentally.

It comes with 3 bag liners to get you started, but of course, regular kitchen trash bags fit it as well… there’s a hole in the interior wall that you can put the excess bag through if you’ve got some slack.

The coolest part by far is that simplehuman is so confident in the quality of their product line that they give you not only a 60-day, 100% satisfaction guarantee return policy for online orders, they also give you a 10 year limited warranty… 10 years! That’s the kind of warranty I have on my car! They’ve also got a price guarantee: If you find the same simplehuman product anywhere else for a cheaper price, they’ll match the price in their online store.

While FreshArrival does receive products from companies to review from time to time, they don’t pay us to review them. Our honest opinions are always presented. If a product sucks, we simply don’t write about it.

The one thing that’s always kept me from all things simplehuman, namely their trashcans, is the price.

I mean, granted their nice and all, but if I’m not mistaken they all retail for at least $100 a pop!

It’s kinda how I feel about Dyson vaccuums: sure, they may look pretty, and work well, but I can get the same thing for a fraction of the price, and not feel like I just dropped a fortune on something that just sits in a corner of my home until it’s used.

Yeah, the price isn’t for everyone, but they’re definitely some very well designed and highly functional products. I personally will spend more money on something that is both well designed and functional over a more “ugly” equivalent.

I do pick my battles when it comes to that though… You probably won’t find a full-size Dyson around my house for a long time, however I am going to pick up a Root 6 from them ASAP.
