FragPedal Elite.

If you’re a PC gamer of the more action oriented persuasion, you know very well that you can never have too many buttons available to beat down your opponents with. The problem is, there aren’t enough fingers to go around. Luckily, you have feet (hopefully!) Simply put, the FragPedal Elite from GWS gives you 4 buttons to use with your feet, so you can get an edge on the competition. Configuration is simple… it can emulate any key on your keyboard or any button on your mouse, so it will work with virtually any computer game or application that you can think of.

The FragPedal comes as a set of 2 pads with 2 buttons on each pad. These buttons look more or less like normal buttons, so when I played with them for the first time, I expected them to have a tactile click when I pushed them down. That was definitely not the case. GWS created some special buttons for the FragPedal Elite that work a bit differently than perhaps any button that you’ve ever used before. Instead of clicking down when you press on them, they don’t really move. They’re pressure sensitive so you can rest your foot on them and then apply a little pressure to actually activate the button… sort of like the control is on a hair trigger. This takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do, it’s pretty awesome! If you don’t think you can get used to a controller that doesn’t really give you any tactile feedback, then this probably isn’t for you… otherwise, this could be a great peripheral to add to your arsenal.

Of course, the potential uses for a product like this aren’t just limited to gaming… I could see someone with a physical disability using a set of FragPedals to interact with their computer to get through their everyday tasks. The FragPedal Elite runs $69.95, which is pretty much in the standard price range for a programmable game peripheral.

Perhaps you’ve seen the Kanye West video for “Can’t Tell Me Nothin“, but you probably haven’t seen it like this! I laughed so hard I almost cried.

Also, Solar is a short film that you should check out when you get a second.
