Free, Reasonably Priced, Services, Useful Things, Websites by Richard

Hellooooo everyone! Happy New Year! I’d like to thank all of you guys for sticking with us through the past few years that we’ve been around, and we look forward to many more years of FreshArrivalness. There are a few things in the works here, like a slick new redesign courtesy of our very own Chris Coyier, and some new features here and there around the site, but always concentrating on keeping FreshArrival simple, to the point, and awesome.

On to today’s post: Pingie is a new service that lets you turn any RSS feed into SMS messages for your cell phone. This means that any feed that you subscribe to can be sent to your phone, and you get a text message every time that it is updated. Simple, easy, and potentially quite useful… not for blog updates (unless you’ve got an account with unlimted text messages and a high tolerance for your phone beeping all day :) ), but for things that have lower intensity, but more important updates, like sales on products, a Basecamp feed, server status, or something similar. I’ll definitely be giving this service a spin soon.

I was getting used to the current “new design”, but am looking forward to the update. Happy New year to you too =)

Also, I just got The Orange Album by Stefy, one of the bands you posted about a couple of years ago, from Best Buy. I was very surprised at seeing it staring me in the face today. Oh, and I don’t think you quite finished the thought in the parentheses =P

Kyle- I totally finished that thought in my head, but it looks like it never made it to the site. It’s fixed now, thanks for pointing it out! Yep, Stefy’s pretty cool.

Hi guys,

SMSGupshup ( has been providing a similar service in India. Do try it out if you are in India.

Needless to say, I work at SMSGupshup – would love to know your comments, feedback, brickbats. pratyush [at] webaroo[dot] com
