The Monsterbar is located at http://mnstrbar.com , and if you put any web address behind that one, (for instance, http://mnstrbar.com/http://waxy.org ) the monster will eat whatever site you’ve pointed him at. Who can argue with a lovable, hungry monster? Nobody, that’s who. :)

I’ve been using a Flipside Wallet for over a week now as my main wallet, and I’ve found it to be an intriguing new wallet that definitely flips the perception of what a wallet should be on its head. The first that you’ll notice will probably be that it is made out of a combination of polymer plastic and aluminum instead of leather or some other fabric, and of course that it’s rigid, due to the materials that it’s made out of. I’ve found it to be a pretty capable wallet for everyday use, with a couple of minor issues. The wallet has RFID shielding built in which is great, given that more and more cards are coming with those chips built in now, and along with those chips come a whole new set of privacy concerns. It’s also magnetically shielded, so it stops your cards from being demagnetized by speakers and other magnetic objects.

The Flipside is spring-loaded, so you slide a switch on the side of the wallet and it pops open and holds itself in that position so that you can easily go through the contents of your wallet. In my experience, I found that the spring was perhaps too “loaded”, as every now and then I’d flip the wallet open and it’d nearly pop right out of my hand. It does work as advertised, though, and stays open until you close it. Once open, it’s very easy to go through your cards and remove the one you want by just sliding them out of their transparent compartments. Since it closes completely, it keeps your cards safe (once a typical leather wallet stretches, it becomes loose in places, and you have to be careful to not lose the contents of your wallet). This isn’t an issue at all with the Flipside.

Having all of these features packed into a wallet makes it noticeably thick (11/16ths of an inch), but I’m sure as time goes on and technology advances, the Flipside will get thinner. I was a little taken aback by its thickness at first, but then put it next to my current wallet and found that my wallet was actually thicker in most places than the Flipside. If you have a normal sized wallet, I don’t think you’ll have any trouble adjusting to the Flipside’s size.

The Flipside even comes with a 1 year warranty which covers repair and/or replacement, should the Flipside cease to function properly, so you can buy with confidence, knowing that you’re covered if you ever have issues. It comes in 4 colors and is $40, which is about what you’d expect to pay for a good wallet made of any other material. It’s literally a solid wallet!

also, This is the most impressive business card I’ve ever seen, it’s mine! :)

Although the exterior style of their bags doesn’t quite fit my taste, I think that Cocoon Innovations has something really cool going on inside of their bags with their new GRID organizational system. I can’t believe that no one’s come up with anything like this before (or maybe they have and I’ve just never seen it). Basically, it’s just a system of elastic bands woven together into a grid so that you can fit just about anything into your bag. Instead of having a fixed number of pockets to put your various accessories in, you’ll easily be able to find a spot for everything in your bag. They really should license this out to other companies!

But if you are one of those paranoid, vain photographers who, unlike me, can’t beat off would-be thieves with your superior martial arts skills, maybe you should invest in a Shootsac. They hold all your extra lenses and gear without being bulky, and with their decorative covers on they aren’t immediately recognizable as gear bags. They aren’t cheap ($180), but they do sound like they are well made.

Wirewize is a new site that aims to help people set up their home theater equipment on their own, by analyzing all of their current devices and recommending the cables and steps that it will take to get everything working… It seems to work best with simple setups (our setup is so complex, including a PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, an LCD, a projector, a receiver, an AppleTV, a full-fledged computer that runs BeyondTV, and more that I generally have to draw it out before I start connecting things, and when I put all of our devices into Wirewize, I just managed to confuse it).

I found that it worked admirably with the types of setups that the target audience for this website will have, with one video device, a dvd player, perhaps a Blu-ray player, a video game console and a surround sound receiver. In this case, I found that the cable recommendations were sound, and the setup wizard worked well. Having your devices in Wirewize also has an added benefit: There are PDF manuals for just about every product you add, so you’ve got an easy one-stop-shop next time you need to look something up in the original manual.

I didn’t really pay attention to this the first time it made its way around the internet, but since it made the rounds again lately, I decided to give it another look, and it’s actually a pretty useful mini-app. I keep a ton of tabs open in multiple browsers, on multiple computers all of the time, and mostly the contents of those tabs consists of things that I want to read later. Instapaper creates what amounts to an online newspaper featuring all of the articles and blog posts that you’d like to read at some point in the near future. You add a bookmarklet to your browser, and whenever you come across a page that you’d like to read later, you just click the bookmarklet and it gets added to your Instapaper. Then, when you have some time to catch up (whether it’s on your computer or a smartphone), you’ll have a handy list of links to pages that you want to read. Pretty cool.

It’s this tiny tiny tiny little house sandwiched in between two other houses in Toronto. It kind of reminds me of the end of *Batteries Not Included when the little building gets to stay in between these giant skyscrapers.

This photoset has pictures all through the house from the front, each “room” and to the backyard. They did a really amazing job with the space. I could totally live there.

So I’ve just moved out to Portland, OR and I’m soaking it all in. Lots of nice folks and lots of good eats. Of course I plan to start keeping track of all my favorites on Hngry, but I’m also collecting menus along the way and I’m starting to get quite a little pile. I remembered way back in 2005 on FreshArrival we featured the Takeout Menu Organizer from Knock Knock, and I figured now was as good a time as you can get to get my menus in order, so I picked one up.

I guess this is technically a repeat-feature, but it’s been a couple of years and Knock Knock has actually revamped this thing since last we’ve seen it. Like most Knock Knock products, the Takeout Menu Organizer is really a thing of beauty. Think of it as a Trapper Keeper for menus. It’s got nice hard covers with a latch to keep it closed. A pad of “What do you want?” notes and a pen, a bunch of tabbed pocket folders, stickers for food-types for the folder tabs, a tipping chart, places to keep notes and ratings, and more! It is extremely well designed and full of fun little details.

At only $21.00, I think it’s an amazing deal. Great for yourself or as a gift.
